What is a Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, can be open (using a scalpel) or closed (Erbium laser).

What is an Open Blepharoplasty?

Open blepharoplasty performed by Dr. Steven Dominguez removes excess fat, skin and muscle from the eyelids. It can be performed on the upper or lower eyelid, or both.  Dr. Steven Dominguez safely performs blepharoplasty under local anesthesia without narcotics or mild altering drugs.  Our patients are fully functional upon leaving our suite, and some patients are able to return to work the following day.  Dr. Steven Dominguez uses a bloodless technique to minimize pain, swelling, and bruising.

What is an Erbium blepharoplasty?

Dr. Steven Dominguez performs Erbium laser to thermally shrink the skin while removing multiple layers of aged skin and may be performed in conjunction with an open blepharoplasty or alone. 

Erbium laser blepharoplasty is best utilized for surgical removal of lower eyelid excessive skin, festoons, and malar mounds.  The result is a tight, smooth lower lid margin.

Non-surgical eyelid rejuvenation is known as radio frequency tightening (Thermage CPT) and is used to tighten and smooth crepey skin.
